What to do in Vegas?

Postby cherenkov on Thu Feb 18, 2010 3:54 pm

I may be going to Vegas for a few days. If I am able to go to two shows, what two shows do you recommend?

If you have time outside the city,
try the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon

I was there in April 09 and again in Dec 09 and there is lots to do. If you're outdoorsy, there's Red Rock Canyon hiking and biking (short 30 minute drive). If you like shows, we went to Cirque Du Soleil Mystere (at Treasure Island) and BITE (topless vampire show - very cheesy but it was topless and awesome classic rock music). Never pay full price for a show, same day tickets can be had for 40% or so off (although they will advertise 70%). or go to a show at the hotel you are staying at and it's even better deal (I got 2 for 1 for mystere). If you are into "adult" entertainment, I could recommend a place where limo ride to and from, cover charge is all included. my wife and I and another couple went and enjoyed it a lot. if you like thrill rides, New York New York roller coaster is fun, and if you crazy Stratosphere has 3 wild rides. visit tripadvisor.com, lots of great reviews and great info in the forums

Carrot Top? Really??

Thanks for the feedback folks. I'm thinking of booking Cirque in advance, and picking up same-day tickets for something else while we're there. Grand Canyon might be in the cards. Or maybe golf.

Bring allot of money. Friends of mine went last year. They stayed at Paris. They went to the lounge and ordered a Rum & Coke and a Long Island Iced Tea. Cost $47.00.

Have fun though. :D

I did have fun! Yes ... drinks can be expensive.. at the hotels at least. You get pick up cheap booze for walking around though. I had some friends down there and ended up drinking in hotel suites more than lounges.
