New FM Hip-Hop Station Hits the Airwaves

Postby cancelbot on Mon Dec 14, 2009 2:40 pm

After a couple weeks of testing, Streetz 104.7 FM officially opened today.

What's interesting about Streetz is that it is operated by NCI, and it has a distinctive Aboriginal flavour to it as a result (although it stresses that it is not aimed only at Aboriginal people - it plays a steady diet of mainstream hip-hop along with Aboriginal artists).

Let's hope this station works out better than the ill-fated FLAVA of a few years back.

Yeah, but FLAVA was better because Streetz is all clean. FLAVA delved into the dirty hip-hop. What I really miss is the Hip-Hop 101 show Friday night overnight on UMFM. That show was filthy! All the dirty hip-hop full of sex and swearing, and the announcers and their callers doing shout-outs or their own raps let the cuss words fly, too. It was f*ucking awesome! I miss it greatly.
